Doctor Who: Adipose Stress Toy Review

(More customer reviews)The Adipose stress toy is bigger than most stress balls, and a very good representation of the cute little aliens from Doctor Who. It is very very squeezable, but the "goes back to its original shape" claim is a little off. It either takes a long time or doesn't happen, depending on what position you leave the little guy in. It's easy enough to hand-mold him back into shape, though. He's not solid foam, more of a balloon material partially filled with a flour-like substance. His surface is a bit tacky to the touch, but washable with soapy water. He smells a bit funny. But for all those little drawbacks, I really don't care. He's just what I wanted in an Adipose.

Some of my students just like to squeeze it as a stress reliever or to keep their hands busy while listening to a story being read to them. One of my frogs lost a foot when a student pulled on the leg, but they seem to be fairly durable. I have had my frogs for 2 years and they still work fine.

(More customer reviews)My 8 year old son received two sets of a major competitor's product, BuckyBalls. I enjoyed playing with them so much that I decided to get my own set. I went with this product instead of the BuckyBalls brand because the darker color would help me tell mine from his.
Initially, the only difference is that these are slightly smaller in diameter, and have a slightly weaker magnetic pull. However, after about 30 minutes moving the spheres around, I noticed that the chrome plating on these balls began to flake off, leaving a ring of dull grey or copper color around each one, and making the sliding motion of each sphere against its neighbor somewhat less smooth and fluid.
My son has played with his sets of BuckyBall brand toys every day with no flaking or visible wear whatsoever.
Overall, they work about the same as their main competitor, but if you're interested in a set that is more durable and resistant to wear, consider looking elsewhere.

(More customer reviews)I bought to my kids a NeoCube, a NanoDots and a CyberCube. Since they have different colors, it is easy to identify every piece.
It is quite clear that NeoCube has weaker magnets. This might be an advantage for beginners, but increases the chances of loosing pieces.
The facts are:
1. Neocube is the cheapest, but is also the poorest. The package is awful;
2. NanoDots are by fair the most expensive (and don't offer a real reason for that);
3. CyberCube seems to be the best balance: high quality (similar to NanoDots) and low price (a little more than NeoCube).
Finally, I stress that this kind of puzzle has a huge educational value. My 12 year son has spent hors with them and I do prefer like that instead of videogames or TV. This kind of toy is very useful for the development of creativity and catches the attention of every one (including me).

It don't defy gavity, you do different tricks that suppost to give the illusion of defying gravity. The DVD shows you the many different tricks you can do with this ball so watching it is a must. The package comes with a stand (for displaying your ball, a DVD and a pouch for transporting reasons. If you can juggle and excell at slide of hand tricks or you want something for therapy reasons than this ball is for you. Just don't scuff it or damage it, you need to keep the ball as clean and damage free inorder to maintain the gravity defying illusions.

The colors variations aren't as distinct as the image, but it doesn't matter, he clearly sees the differences. The magnets are very strong and durable, small, so it appeals to older children, though my 8 year old now wants his own set. My kids spend hours just fiddling around with this toy, creating new shapes and watching videos on how to make certain shapes. He shares and trades them with his friends, everyone who sees them are like 'what's that?', they pick it up and want their own.

When tipped, the balls bounce and fall through a series of clear, plastic ramps, creating a sound much like falling water. This tube is much higher quality than other toy "rainsticks" and bead tubes I've seen, and a very good value for the price.
The noise is loud and long-lasting, and because it does not look "babyish" it can be enjoyed by all ages. Supervision is needed around infants and toddlers - just in case - but the item is well made; it seems very unlikely that a small child would be able to break it open. I've seen mine dropped and banged, with no more damage than a few superficial scratches to the plastic.
For preschoolers, it makes a neat cause and effect toy - something satisfyingly noisy that does not take batteries! There's just something appealing and empowering about making all those shiny little balls flow through the tube!
Some children with special needs - especially children with autistic spectrum tendencies - find this toy truly irresistable. On the other hand, some - especially those with auditory sensitivities - find the noise (and lack of way to stop the noise once the tube is tipped!) to be overwhelming. Consider your kiddos carefully if purchasing for a classroom or family with a member who avoids loud noises.
I've also used this tube in workshops for adults, and in a schoolage summer camp music program, and have found that people just can't keep their hands off this thing! It could even be a good stress relieving desk toy for adults.
