For anyone over the age of five this is a dead give away as to what's going on. however, since I do tricks for tots, they are amazed while their parents chuckle!

This product has been designed to make it possible to have it examined both before and after the effect. You show the brass tube and the steel ball, the ball is clearly too large to fit in the tube. However, on your command the ball slowly sinks down into the tube. Now on your command the ball slowly rises back to the top of the tube. You now immediately hand out the props for examination. They will find nothing, and will not be able to get the ball to go into the tube, it won't fit. No! There is no switching! Again, everything is able to be examined.

Professional Magic Spongeballs with DVD - 30 Tips and Tricks with Sponge Balls Review

(More customer reviews)I've been a magician for a while, and was interested in getting into manipulation effects like this one. The thing came, and i was excited. I opened the balls first, and these were amazing: pro quality, durability, just over all the perfect sponge balls. However, I was really disappointed with the dvd. The man was ok, but didnt offer what I thought was most valuable: how to do an effective fake pass. The tricks were basic, which is ok because spenge ball tricks are never hard.
Pros:
Excellent balls.
Gives a sample routine to get you introduced to flaws.
Cons:
there are better trick tutorials on youtube.
doesnt offer enough fine-detail level explenation, so tricks come out mediocre.
Final: I love the balls, hate the video. If you can, buy just the balls from this company, and go to any free site where the tricks are just as good, explained better, for magicians who want to go somewhere with their purchase.

It's amazing! it is very bright so it's easy to see. the wire is black so it matches the silk that is sold separately. the ball is hollow so it's very light to pick up. The instructions don't describe that great on how to prepare and preform heres how I would describe them:
Preparing:
place a table in the center of your stage, place the small base in the center of the table. place the wire into the ball's hole located at the bottom, place the ball on the small base so it is tilted a little(like the picture)if you are going to use your left hand, have it tilted to the right, if you're using your right, have it tilted to the left bring the end with the coil back behind the ball so it is not noticeable place the silk near the ball. now bring in your audience
Preforming:
wave your hands over the ball like you are casting a spell on it. Take the silk and run it through your hands lightly to show your audience there is nothing under the silk. Place the silk over the ball with a small amount of the wire and the coil sticking out towards you. place both hands in the center of the edge of the silk, at the same time place the middle finger of whichever hand you are using in the coil now slide your hands to the edges of the silk. hide your middle, ring and pinky fingers behind the silk. Lift your middle finger up slowly so it looks like the ball is rising under the silk. Once you have it in the air stretch the silk between your fingers and tilt your middle finger upwards to bring the ball above the silk. Do this slowly so you do not reveal the wire. ring the ball back under the silk and move it in front of you. Move your arms out to make it look like it's flying away from you. Repeat those steps over until you are done and ready to finish the trick. Then b ring the ball back down onto the base, slide the coil behind the ball once again. Remove the silk from the ball and show it to your audience on the base.
I would also include a book of tricks to be creative with
but other than that I LOVE IT!

The problem with this product is that it is not a magic, gravity-defying ball, as the commercial makes it seem. Making the ball seem like it is floating is a skill, and has little to do with this actual product. You can learn the skill of "contact-juggling" or "fushigi" without actually having this product. It is difficult and takes time to master, so it is NOT a toy for young children. So don't buy this expecting much. You will essentially receive a ball that glows in the dark.
Note: It does come with a DVD that explains how to do fushigi, assuming you have the time and want to learn techniques on how to do this. If you, or your child, have the patience and willpower to learn, which few children actually do, this product may be very fun in your home. Perhaps before buying the product, you could look into contact juggling, or "fushigi" on the internet and practice some techniques with another round object before committing to buying this (expensive) product.
