(More customer reviews)I got the Talking Magic Eight Ball two weeks ago and it is garbage. It is so light if you drop it I'm sure it will break. There is no liquid inside with the die or anything it just spits out phrases when you push a button - sometimes anyway. It is nothing like the original magic eight ball. It says it has eleven phrases but it only repeats four of them over and over again, and considering Family Guy has some of the greatest catch phrases, they picked really dumb ones. Peter has one or two, Chris has one, and the rest are all Stewie. There are no Brian quotes which I thought was disappointing.

As though someone didn't think people could look elsewhere to compare prices. Please. In fact, I bought one of these today in-store at my local Toys R Us for $10. Stores are having sales - online isn't always the better deal. And $29.99 for this item is a rotten deal.

Muppets Magic 8 Ball Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item for my girlfriend at the time, because a) she loves The Muppets and b) she was amazingly unable to make a decision about most things. Unfortunately, the gift only met criteria a) in the end. That is, it is certainly distinctly Muppets, with Kermit's trademark green. But the liquid inside is some sort of insane dark blue that makes it nearly impossible to actually read what the Magic 8-Ball is telling you; with a fair number of bubbles and the difficulty of getting a flat side to face up to the window, it certainly isn't going to simplify any decisions, because you'll almost never be able to actually read the thing.

Whoever thought of making Magic 8 ball in cartoon themes is a genius. The kids at my teen's party spent a long time asking questions of Sponge Bob, and I know the Care Bears version will be a hit with my little girl and her pals.

When I opened the package my fingers were instantly transformed into blue digits as the liquid had leaked out of the 8 Ball all over the inside package as well as the toy box. TERRIBLE QUALITY! I'd avoid purchasing the classic 8 Ball and stick with the new one, better chance of getting one that doesn't leak.

(More customer reviews)I was under the impression it would also have the old blue liquid answers as well. But that's not why I rated it poorly. It's about the most annoying toy I've ever got my kids. They fight over the answers ("haha, it said you WEREN'T a princess!")and Woody's voice got old rather quickly. I can't blame it entirely on the toy, but I will say it didn't bring up any of the fond memories I had of playing with one as a child.

If I were to do it again, I would purchase two of the originals. The mini-one has a lever that you push in order for the answer to appear at the bottom window. It's just not like the "real" thing.

(More customer reviews)The difficulty of buying a Magic 8-Ball through the web is that you cannot ask it the most important question of all: "Should I buy you?" Perhaps Amazon asks each 8-Ball the variant "Should I send you to customer XYZ?" before packing. We can only hope.
When I asked my Magic 8-Ball if I should write a positive reivew, it said "IT IS ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN." When I asked if all those reading this review should buy a Magic 8-Ball it said (quite emphatically, I might add) "YES." Though the Magic 8-Ball may hedge with a "MOST LIKELY" or the ever cryptic "BETTER NOT TELL YOU NOW," it is most often a source of affirmation. Having a Magic 8-Ball on your desk can save countless hours of trying to make decisions based on long, complicated evaluations of fact.
Some 8-balls can be difficult to read, physically, that is, as the manufacture does not lead the inner mechanism to place an answer flat against the opening. Again, difficult to check when buying through the web. (Talking 8-balls, which Amazon doesn't list, solve this problem.)
Variants on the 8-ball come and go (most recently, affirmation balls and financial-advice balls have made the rounds), but these are nothing more than pretenders to the throne. When asked if these imitators could provide correct answers, the Magic 8-Ball said, "OUTLOOK NOT SO GOOD."
