(More customer reviews)As a BJD collector, I purchased this doll for the "plus" of the removable fangs and extra wig, eyes and costume, expecting a really competitive offering from an American company. Although I had previously had bad experiences with Ashton Drake collectibles, I hoped this doll would atone for past grievances. However, not surprisingly, it only confirms the company's merited reputation for bad-design-and-beneath-made-in-China-standards.
The vinyl was supposed to be top notch: smooth and resin-like. Instead it is coarse and gritty. Furthermore, when I displayed the doll in the extra black "vampire" costume (with a doll stand, as the high-heeled "goth" shoes are so badly done that she can't stand alone -as is expected from every BJDoll/BJD accessory), after merely two hours of posing, away from sunlight and humidity in a non-smoking environment, the pelvis, groin, upper legs and knee-joints were permanently stained in black: not surprising from the cheap cotton fabric of the dress (the bodice is lined in white, granted) and the even cheaper materials used for underwear and stockings -which are another feat of unbelievably poor craftsmanship.
The face sculpt is rather nice, but the eyes are way too small to manipulate inside the tiny head.
While the wig "fastening" system (velcro) is a good idea, you can only change the wigs a couple of times before the hairstyles come loose.
And the fangs! They're also half of what they seem in the promo picture, so make sure to keep your tweezers handy!
It's an unforgivable lie to pass this doll off as a BJD. Attention, please, Ashton Drake marketing geniuses: THE JOINTING IS MECHANICAL. Therefore, except for -perhaps- the wig/eye swapping feature (readily available in offerings from other companies), this doll cannot be considered a BJD. She's more in the new Barbie "Fashionista"/Pivotal body class; Integrity's Fashion Royalty league; or Tonner's Tyler family, to name a few.
Lastly, the feet swapping feature -from flat to "heeled" feet- is not only glitched, but potentially laming. Due to the extreme brittleness of the "anchoring" mechanism (a stem you have to push into or pull out of the lower leg, similar to the Bratz line), you could easily end up with a pair of useless feet. (And some very interesting worst-case scenarios/combinations!) So make up your mind and leave them in place. Permanently.
In sum, a terrible fiasco! But the name is ironically apt. Don't wait to get bitten to be twice shy of this doll!
