(More customer reviews)I bought this accessory for my children specifically due to the carpeting in our house and a review that stated this was a great accessory for carpeting. The surfboard is NOT for carpeting. It specifically states in the directions that it works best on flat clear surfaces. It is cute to watch on flat surfaces, but do NOT buy this if your looking for something to help with carpet. I believe that the ball works much better on carpets.

(More customer reviews)We were lucky enough to be chosen to do a product review of Zhu Zhu Pets. We received several components of the habitat plus one hamster. It took a little time to figure out exactly how the components of the habitat fit together, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy to add another part to the hamster's playground. Each hamster has its own personality. The hamsters roam around their habitat (or loose through my house) by themselves. The kids can't keep their hands off of them, but that's OK, too, because the hamsters won't bite back when you pull their tails. Ha ha. I think the car is the best accessory. The hamster really goes into the car and drives it out of the garage. Too cute. It's nowhere near a real hamster, but it's a fun toy. Of course, there's no mess to clean up, either, parents. [...]

(More customer reviews)We've got pretty much all of the accesories for the Zhu Zhu pets. The wheel actually does not move freely very well but the hamster will go down the tunnel get on the wheel and run in place then back down the tunnel. At first I was very dissappointed that the wheel wasn't really spinning (it does move but spinning is a stretch) but my 4 year old didn't seem bothered by it. now I actually kind of prefer this one because it's one that actually keeps the hamster contained in the funhouse. The slide lets the hamster out onto the floor as does the car and garage which is fine if you have a very large area for the whole set but the hamster runs better in the plastic pieces. As for durability the slide and garage are constantly coming detached (the 2 year old tends to knock them around) but this one has stayed attached pretty good, maybe because the tunnel is shorter than others. If you're not familiar with these you should know the accessories are snap together pieces - the plastic isn't flimsy but the fact that they just 'snap' together means they also snap apart rather easily. So while the accessories are constantly coming apart or detached they aren't breaking (which is good) but my 4 year old can't really snap them back together on his own so it's more work for me.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this entire set for my 4 yr old daughter about a month ago and it is the greatest toy ever! Yes, the garage does fall apart and the doors fall off, but all I used was one piece of tape all the way around to secure the roof and since then there hasn't been a problem at all!! You can't even see the tape, and it is a very easy fix. I do recommend that you use the tape trick especially if you have little ones like I do. They just aren't as gentle as older kids and she tended to knock the roof off easliy. I do not find that the hamsters get stuck at all. Most people don't really understand how these little guys work. First and foremost you have to replace the batteries in all the hamsters when you get them home. The batteries are only for in-store use and it says so on the instructions and on the website as well. Once you change the batteries....wow watch these little guys go! Secondly you have to pay attention to the tunnel directions, again in the instructions and the website, otherwise they will not work correctly. Thirdly, they do NOT get stuck, they make their own little decisions...just let them go and see what they do! My daughter LOVES these and has played with them non stop since she got them over a month ago. For the price they are great! (Not on amazon though, look at toys r us or walmart, or especially ebay instead they have the whole set for a pretty good deal!)

Hamusuta the Happy Hamster in Ball Review

(More customer reviews)My daughter loves hamsters, so I bought her this for Christmas... then she managed to see the box early and squealed, "Hamster!" How could I deny her? So, fine, she got the darn thing early, and she loved it. It went scuttling around the floor in its ball, then she took it out and it scuttled around some more. BUT... when she held it up to get a good look at it, her hair got stuck in the wheels, and the wheels kept going! Her hair got wrapped around and around the wheel, and it seems there was no automatic shut-off for something like this-- there should definitely be some kind of sensor to automatically shut off this toy if something is stuck in its wheels.
So I had a crying, screaming child while I ran over to shut off the toy and unwind her hair from its wheels. You might chalk this up to a freak accident, but considering we've owned the toy for less than 24 hours, I'm afraid that similar events are on our horizon. I think I may force her to keep it inside the ball.
(Update a week later): Funny thing about this: I knew nothing about Zhu Zhu Pets when I bought this. Only after I saw how much she liked this did I go online looking for other toy hamsters, because when I asked what she wanted for Christmas, she said, "Another hamster." I had no idea about the Zhu Zhu craze! This toy is not a Zhu Zhu (someone asked me that in the comments, so I'll put it out here)-- it doesn't make sounds or change directions or any of the additional things they do. But for what it is, it's cute, and a good price. Using only one battery is a nice benefit, too.
