(More customer reviews)I happened to see this in the stores and thought the price $15 (and up...mostly UP) was a tad HIGH for the figure.
I managed to get one MIB for $10.98 on ebay (shpg incl), and I have to say it's certainly worth THAT price.
The figure is well-molded in really good colors...nice metallic sheen to it.
The "battle and flight" sounds are pretty decent, but the "voice" should have been Robert Downey, Jr.
It takes 3 AAA battieries located in the back of the figure.
The 3-position switch to activate the sounds CAN be turned off to save those batteries. (middle position)
What I really find cool is the fact that when you move it up, down, and around in the air, the flight sounds change as well...nice touch with the motion-activation.
The repulsor "blast" should also have been that light BLUE instead of yellow on the left palm, but no big deal.
Still sounds neat.
My biggest issue with this almost perfect figure is the LACK of articulation points.
The hips and shoulders COULD have been ball joints, but the manufacturer decided to go with SWIVEL joints only.
The hands could have pivoted as well, but they chose not to do that either.
Ditto for the ankles.
It simply can't be AS MUCH FUN as it SHOULD be...and that's a shame.
In all actuality, the 4 inch figures are a bit better articulated and can be posed in more positions that this figure.
But they don't look as good on display...OR have the sounds.
The firing "repulsor" isn't powerful enough to go through walls, so there's not much concern for "putting your eye out, Ralphie"...LOL
It does shoot about 2-3 feet...not bad.
This figure IS built for sturdy play...and it's pretty substantial in weight. In other words, do NOT toss Iron Man at your sister or brother...it might just leave a mark!
In my opinion, this IS a very well rendered figure...BUT it could have been a LOT better with only a few more articulation points...AND Downey's (or Jarvis's) voice.
It's worth a buy, as long as you don't have to pay OVER $15 for it.
(And it still looks REAL cool on the entertainment center).
