Excalibur NF07-08 NFL Vibrating Football Review

Excalibur NF07-08 NFL Vibrating Football
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Football like the in the old days before video games - for that reason its good. The game now uses batteries and can be played any where - also turns on/off and high/low by each user very easy (duel controls)
The game intends you to use a tiny little football with a flimsy little kicker/passer - this was broken in minutes
Game play gets good after try-outs mark your fastest runners with a pen - play game as touch football without passing there's lots of action when you limit the number of players (6 on 6)
Game is great because of the time not spent playing on the TV learning the different players capabilities and setting up the formations that are needed to score and winning the game (relates to real football)

I went to a sporting goods store recently and this was by far the best feeling basketball of them all. I assumed the Spalding ones would be the best, but Wilson puts out the best ball. Even an average hand can palm this ball because the grip is so solid. Best basketball for the money, if you're thinking a new one then this is your ball.

Step2 Double Play Basketball & Football Set Review

Step2 Double Play Basketball and Football Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We got this toy for my child 2 weeks ago. My son loved it! Well, the fun lasted a little over a week. We did not have a place in our house to put it and we didn't want it in the garage where we would have to leave the door open and risk him running into the street after a rogue ball. So we put it in the back yard. We went out the other day and found bottom of the plastic post was bent so the goal is at a 45 degree angle to the ground! It is completely ruined now and though we live in Texas, the heat hasn't gotten bad yet so I don't feel like this was our fault for being stupid. Bottom line: if you can't put this product inside, don't buy it!

Lifetime 1306 Pool Side Height-Adjustable Portable Basketball System with 44-Inch Clear Acrylic Backboard Review

Lifetime 1306 Pool Side Height-Adjustable Portable Basketball System with 44-Inch Clear Acrylic Backboard

Very sturdy assembly and full size hoop. So far its been a lot of fun. I only wish they provided a drain plug for the base. You can still drain by removing the two top filler caps and tipping it to the side though.

Shoot some hoops from your favorite inner tube with the 1306 poolside basketball system from Lifetime. This very portable basketball system is made with a Pro Court 26-Gallon polyethylene base that can be filled with either sand or water. The attached wheels make it easy to roll wherever you want it to go. It has a two-piece, 3-inch telescoping pole construction with a blue hammer tone finish that adjusts to six variable settings from 4-1/2 to 7 feet in height. The 44-inch Fusion backboard has a molded high-density polyethylene frame and an acrylic shot area with a white granite finish and special UV protected graphics. The 5/8-inch blue hammer tone Classic rim features a solid steel ring with 1/2-inch brace supports, an all-weather nylon net and welded steel net hooks that are virtually unbreakable. So dive in and rack up some points this summer, from the comfort of your inflatable seahorse.
Portable basketball systems depend on a base filled with sand or water for stability. Although it will take up more space than an in-ground system, the portable base rolls on wheels, allowing players to position the basketball system in the desired location (and also allowing storage in a garage). Simply assemble, fill the base and play today. There is no fussing with concrete.
Amazon.com Basketball System Buying Guide With the high-quality construction of many portable basketball systems, turning your driveway into a basketball court can be as simple as hooking up your garden hose. But while a portable system may ultimately be your best choice, there are reasons you may want to consider an in-ground or wall-mount system before you decide.
In-Ground Systems In-ground systems are permanently cemented into the ground--either via a bolt mounting kit or directly into the ground--and are generally more rigid and take up less space than portables. In-ground systems often require that you hire a professional to complete the task, but when the cement dries you'll have a hoop that can take punishing dunks with ease.
Many in-ground systems are height-adjustable, include removable post features that let you take the system down for off-season storage, and feature heavy-duty break-away rims. You'll also want to research the adjustable mechanisms on the systems, as there are several types to choose from. Some feature a counter-balance spring that lets you perform easy, one-hand adjustments while others may feature a sturdy, pneumatic system.
Wall-Mount Systems Wall-mount systems can be mounted to the side of a house, a tall retaining wall, or a garage. Generally sturdier than portables, wall-mounts have the added advantage of optimizing your existing ground space for the court, since you won't take any space up with the base or pole. Not all systems include the necessary hardware, so make certain you add a mounting kit to your list.
Portable Systems Portable systems require minimal installation and offer ultimate convenience. These systems generally feature a base that can be filled with sand or water to stabilize them and include wheels for portability. Although they are not as sturdy as in-ground or wall-mounted hoops, portables are simple to set up and can often be folded for convenient storage.
Backboard Considerations Regardless of which system you choose, you'll want to brush up on Backboards 101. Most residential systems feature backboards made of acrylic, fiberglass, graphite, or various other composite materials. While clear acrylic gives the professional look and feel of glass, it is not as rigid as fiberglass or graphite. Some systems may offer steel or aluminum backboards, which are virtually vandal resistant, but don't offer the true rebounding action.
The regulation size of an NBA backboard is 72 inches wide and 42 inches high. Most portable hoops are 42 or 44 inches wide and 36 inches tall. In-ground systems tend to be a bit larger, with 54-inch and 60-inch widths being the most popular. While rectangular shaped backboards provide more bank shot opportunities, they are generally more expensive than the streamlined fan-shaped board.

Spalding 4020 Dual Electronic Basketball Game Review

Spalding 4020 Dual Electronic Basketball Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This basketball game is fantastic. It came together quickly, and comes with 6 basketballs for fast-paced competitions. The electronic scorer/count-down timer starts the players off with a tune, then counts down 5 to 0, and then a horn goes off for the shooting to begin--just like at an arcade. The horn goes off again for 30 seconds of 3-point scoring shots. The unit is sturdy enough to stand up to the boys, and the side netting does a good job of keeping the balls in play. Our entire family played on Christmas--especially the grandparents. The true test came when 4 7yr. olds came over for a play date and were immediately drawn to the basketball game over the Wii.
You'll need some space to set this game up; it fits in our (typical 2 car) garage, however the height of the backstop prevents the automatic sectional garage door from raising, so we unplugged the garage door opener to prevent any accidents.

Perfect for large rec rooms and parties for the kids, the arcade-style Spalding 4020 dual electronic Pop-a-Shot basketball game will keep you entertained for hours. The Pop-a-Shot game--which includes six mini rubber basketballs and a pump--tests your shooting mettle against a 60-second electronic scoring system, with a dual score display and audio responses grading your progress. Users have their choice of opponents: you can play against your own best score (one-player mode) or face off against a friend in competitive battles (two-player mode). And as you progress, the game timer counts down in three different intervals, so you know how close you are to the buzzer. Made of durable powder-coated steel, the Pop-a-Shot measures 81 by 90 by 44 inches (W x H x D) and carries a one-year warranty.

Lifetime 1269 Pro Court Portable Basketball System with 44" Acrylic Fusion Backboard Review

Lifetime 1269 Pro Court Portable Basketball System with 44 Acrylic Fusion Backboard
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This basketball goal and base by Lifetime is economical, relatively simple to put together, and pretty sturdy. The instructions are easy to follow, and no drilling or special tools are required. Because of possible liability concerns, safety is stressed. Although at a couple of steps, it states that two adults are required to complete the task, one adult with moderate strength and weight, exercising care, can safety get the job done. I put it together by myself, however if another person is available, it would certainly be advisable to follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
The hollow plastic base can be filled with either water or sand to provide the required counterweight to support the pole and rim. It will cost more, but I recommend using sand rather than water, especially if you live in a cold weather area. The instructions state that 319 pounds of sand are required. Not sure about that, but it probably takes between 3 and 4 cubic feet of sand to fill the base.
The base has a pair of small plastic wheels that help you to move or position it. Once in place, you fill up the base to about half capacity, raise the goal upright, and then fill the base to capacity. Unless you are capable of moving a football blocking sled, don't' plan on moving the system very far, after it is filled. The pole and backboard will bend back and wobble during normal play. This is to be expected, as the system will not be as rigid as a regulation goal. The plastic backboard is smaller than regulation, so your angles for bank shots are tighter, but at least it is rectangular rather than rounded at the top. If you can dunk, take it easy or you could take the hoop down. The rim is black rather than orange. The net is low quality, and does not slow the ball down after a goal.
Although the system is pretty sturdy, long term life is an open question. There are exposed bolts and metallic parts, and the top of the pole is open, so if exposed to rain, corrosion is inevitable. The rim height is adjustable in six inch increments from 7.5 to 10 feet. Once you set the rim height, painting any unfinished metal parts might be a good idea.
Overall, this is a very good product for the price, especially if you get it on sale with Super Saver shipping. Hopefully it will hold up well under the elements. So far, I am loving it! My shot is improving, and I am also saving gas because I don't have to drive to the neighborhood park.

Poolside Basketball Review

If you are looking for a pool basketball set I'm sure you have seen the really nice $200 - $300 ones that sit on the side of the pool and are just like a regular basketball set up with a normal sized ball and backboard. This isn't one of those. This is a water filled plastic base with a wobbly plastic pole connected to an undersized plastic backboard with a ball about 50% regular size. Is it fun? Kinda. Do I wish I had just waited and got a good one? Yes.
Don't get me wrong here, I'm not a pool toy hater. We've got a whole bunch of different ones - the torpedo thing (fun and durable), the timer thingy you dive after (fun) and an assortment of floaties, balls, squirt guns, etc. I had high hopes for this game but I decided on the cheap route - bad plan. There is no way this could handle a spirited game where you are driving to the hole and want to mix it up a bit off the glass. In other words what you would buy a poolside basketball set for in the first place.
If you have very little ones maybe this would be choice to consider otherwise save your money and buy a good one.

Average Reviews:

Pleased with product, purchased for 10 year old who loves it. Mounts easily on top of one of our doors, although if your door frame sticks out (recessed door), the top of the backboard may hit the door frame and the door may not close. This should not be a problem for most "flush" doors. The ball is great and backboard is nice and large so play is great. My main problem was that getting the net inserted through the eye holes was a total pain. i had to redo the net several times before getting it to stay.

My 5yo received this last month for a birthday present, and within a few days had declared this the BEST gift he received. His 10yo brother also likes it, and enjoys playing with it with him. I like it because they play together! Much like an (admittedly, old-fashioned) arcade game, you pop the basketball through the hoop, and your player rises up toward the top -- first one to the top wins.
The music is loud and can be annoying, but ours at least has a setting where you don't have to play the sounds.
I would have purchased several to have on hand for gifts at this price ($7.50) if Target wasn't charging more than the product price to ship it. Recommended age, 5-8.

Football Guys by Kaskey Kids - Red and Blue
Average Reviews:

We have had this for several years now. My two boys, now ages seven and five, play with this regularly (several times a week). It is great for imaginative play. They have made many scenes, besides just setting up plays.
This is likely the most played toy item we have, and it looks to continue as a favorite for awhile. They also have the baseball and soccer sets, but football has been the favorite.
The pieces are well made and everything is durable (the felt field is showing a little bit of wear after two years, but that is to be expected). The case is nice as the kids clean this up themselves by throwing everything in the box, although the felt field is a bit difficult for them to roll up and put away.
If you have kids who are sports-minded, I highly recommend.
