Kids Toy Electronic Shuttleball Pinball Machine Review

This would be a great little pinball game if the manufacturing quality was better. On ours, the cardboard covering the playfield was warped, deflecting the path of the ball, and sometimes causing the spinning bumper-wheel to get stuck. The LCD display is very cheap and difficult to read.

Stern Pinball Shrek Arcade Pinball Machine Review

I'm a pinball lover that lives in a town where pinball is obsolete. I found one bowling alley to play Teed Off by Gottlieb and that was it. So I decided to save up and buy a pinball for my house. I took a huge risk on Shrek since I was basing the play factor on youtube videos and I never actually played it myself. When I got it I was very impressed with it. The playfield looks overbearing at first but it's not bad at all. The main attraction is donkey pinball. You have to spell out the characters names to get a 4 ball multi-ball.

Everyone's favorite ogre has made his way to the pinball world with the Stern Shrek pinball machine. Designed by Pat Lawlor Design, Shrek pinball features eye-popping original art from John Youssi--newly elected Pinball Hall of Fame artist--along with Mark Galvez and Tom Kyzivat. More significantly, the machine is a blast to play, with a favorite play area named Donkey's mini-playfield to occupy your attention. Located in the upper right hand corner, Donkey's mini-playfield offers mini-flippers that the player controls with the regular flipper buttons when the game is in Donkey mode. The mini-playfield also offers ramps and targets to shoot at while an actual Donkey figurine spins in front. Of course, Donkey isn't the only Shrek character to earn some pinball love, as the game also offers figurines of four other Shrek characters, including Shrek himself, Puss in Boots, Princess Fiona, and Gingy. A mirrored sculpture of Prince Charming, meanwhile, sits in the center of the playfield, where players can strike it with the pinball when so motivated. Finally, the game offers a pair of captive pinballs that spell out P-I-N-B-A-L-L when hit, along with lots of exciting multi-ball action.
There's no better way to celebrate the highest-grossing animated movie franchise of all time than with the Shrek pinball machine. The machine measures 27 by 75.5 by 55 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 250 pounds.

I recently decide to make a mame arcade with the old pc I bought. Most pre-built mame arcades are 1000s of dollars. I was going to convert an old cabinet, but I would have needed to buy a new monitor and do a lot more wiring work. This unit is perfect! It is very stable (uses 3 inch bolts to keep it all together) and can hold a widescreen tv that you already own. I would recommend this to anyone who wants an easy Build your own mame arcade.

Stern Pinball Batman Arcade Pinball Machine Review

I recently had the opportunity to play this game for about 3 hours straight. I had heard some bad reviews of the game, but definitely wanted to check it out for myself. I must say I was really pleased with the game. The first thing you will notice when you see this machine is the striking cabinet art and translite. I believe these are stock images from Warner Brothers Batman Style Guide (not positive) but they really look good. The side art is especially nice as well as the backbox sides. The translite is good, but I would have preferred just Batman and the Joker on it. The playfield art is also very good, and is similiar to Spiderman in that it has the photos of key players in the movie. There are plenty of lights in this game which make the lighting very good.
The game features many toys, but they arent as interactive as in some games. Toys include: Batmobile Teeter Totter, a spinning Joker Stage, and the Scarecrow Crane. The Batmobile Teeter Totter doesnt really do anything special other than provide a break from gameplay. Joker Stage simply turns and reveals the Joker. The real winner of the toys is the Scarecrow Crane. At certain points in the game the Crane will move out onto the playfield over certain targets displayed on the playfield. The crane features a ball attached to a spring that you have to hit. This definitely adds a a good bit of randomness to where the ball will go which is always fun.
There is only one ramp in this game, which is not an issue, as for some reason while playing it felt like there were more. There are plenty of shots on this game, and the gameplay is very smooth. Its not an extremely hard game, but it is fairly challenging. I am not sure what version of software the machine I played had, but it honestly didn't matter. I wasn't playing the "modes" of the game, I was more interested in just playing the game and figuring out what everything did. People trashed this game because of the initial software, but after reading Sterns software updates, it seems like plenty of improvements have been made to the code. One of the features that is now enable is support for a shaker motor. I haven't played one with a shaker, but I'm sure it really enhances the game, especially during crane hits.
Overall I found this to be a really fun game with striking art and one of the coolest toys in pinball, the Scarecrow Crane. Its a great theme, and since it isn't specific to either Batman Begins or The Dark Knight, Stern will have an opportunity to rerelease this when the next movie comes out, assuming they still have the license. Continued software updates will make this game a sleeper hit in my opinion.
